Developed for the Salt Lake City RDA, The Depot District Central Station area Master Plan builds upon the Wasatch Choices for 2040 Plan in respect to densities, land uses and the configuration of the plan. Working alongside the firm Design Workshop, major driving principles EDA applied to inform the development of this plan include:
- Create a pedestrian oriented public realm that is scaled to people
- Create a festival street that can be both heavily programmed and function as a living street
- Position centralized parking structures
- Incorporate a grid of mid-block streets and pedestrian access ways
- Wrap parking structures with active ground-level uses to screen their facades to provide a vibrant pedestrian experience
- Bring podium office and residential products to the ground without exposing interior or integrated parking garages
- Retain existing historically significant buildings and other site attributes to help preserve the industrial heritage of the site and to create a distinctive sense of place
- Create public spaces for social interaction and community events
- Allow for the integration of a future streetcar alignment in the 300 South right-of-way
